Welcome To Training in Truth (TNT)
Training in Truth, otherwise known as TNT, is Heartland Baptist Fellowships Wednesday night children's church. Operating during the school year from 6:30pm-8:00pm, alongside the main service. September-May.
Why training in truth?
- Today’s children are growing up in a different time than any of us could have imagined. Knowledge is the at click of a button, yet we see an exponential decrease in that knowledge applied, i.e.: wisdom. As a Bible believing local New Testament church, we know that knowledge and wisdom start first with fear of the LORD. (Psalms 111:10, Proverbs 1:7)
- Today’s children are seeing a world full of knowledge yet void of truth. We at HBF stand on the truth of God’s word, and that His word contains absolute truth, without error. (2 Timothy 3:7, 3:16, Matthew 5:18, John 17:17)
- It is our hearts desire to help you, the parents/guardians, as you establish a foundation of truth and love in the hearts of today’s generation. (Deuteronomy 6:7)
- We do this by teaching the deep riches of God’s word to your children, by enjoying games and activities that solidify that truth, and by helping the children see how the truth of the Word can be applied and lived out in their lives personally.
We cannot wait to help you by investing the word of God into the lives of your children. TNT is led by Mitch and Jody Newland, who currently lead our Kingdom Seekers children’s ministry, and have worked with children at HBF for 7 years.

A word from Mitch:
“Hey parents! My wife Jody and I have been investing in the children of HBF, and guests for many years now. We felt the call of God on our lives to be in the children’s ministry, and joyfully responded in obedience.
We were established in the ministry as helpers with the toddlers, which we came to love. But God had plans to grow us further, and we have since answered the call to lead this ministry. It is our great joy to get to know each of the children that enter our doors personally, and to build relationships with you the parents. It is our ultimate desire to come alongside you all and help you set a foundation of truth for your children to stand on for the rest of their lives. (Proverbs 22:6)”
This year we are trying something new to Heartland Baptist Fellowship. It is called "Patch Club" by Majesty Music. This is a fun and exciting curriculum FULL of scripture memorization and most of all, PRAISE! there will be lots of fun ongs and even liver performances by your children. If you would like to check out the style, look up “Patch the Pirate” which is a christian audio drama, like Adventures in Odyssey if you know about that. This year will be led by Me (Mitch Newland) and my help meet (Jody Newland), and assisted by Mickie Fox, and Vicki Sleyster who is leading up our children’s choir! We are extremely excited to see what God has in store for us and your children through this curriculum. If you have a younger child (Birth-3yrs) they will be with Brady and Hollie Barnes in the Sonbeams room. They will be going through a curriculum called “Just Us Little Guys”, learning about the “things Jesus did and said.” If you have any questions about that reach out to Brady Barnes.
