The planning for our Vacation Bible School (VBS) starts almost as soon as it's over with after action reports and evaluation of what worked well and what we could improve upon. Chris and Lauren Coen do a wonderful job of planning and preparing for our VBS each year, getting an early start by selecting and purchasing lesson plans in January most years. That gives us six months most to prepare for the big week where we stop everything and invest in the children of HBF and the community.

No amount of planning could have placed the timing of our VBS any better than it did this year. God showed up in a providential way to coordinate the culmination of our sanctity of life themed VBS with the landmark Supreme Court decision rendered in the Dobbs vs. Jackson case. The Dobbs vs. Jackson case ended the federal mandate over states to provide abortion on demand. The ruling returned the decision on abortion to the states where the voting populous can determine the matter at a state level.

The VBS this year was a blast! We had a live play headed up by Mitch and Jody Newland and a great supporting cast of Nick and Kindra Lavergne and Meredith Pugh along with several others. Each night the children had the opportunity to participate in the "game show" that highlighted various questions from the bible and various interesting facts about Australia’s geography, demographics, zoology. The week was packed full of games, engaging crafts, intriguing stories and lessons as well as some tasty snacks.

VBS was held each night at 6:30PM-9:00PM and the time flew by! The week culminated with many prizes and recognitions. The most important message that was presented during VBS this year was the message of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The memory verses and the curriculum led us to a wonderful exposition of the gospel on Thursday night which was reiterated on Friday. Sunday June 26th we sang a couple of the Zoomerang songs to the congregation! It was a great celebration of all God has done that week.

If you don't know what the gospel is, or would like to have it explained, you can follow this link to an explanation and a way to contact HBF for more information.

To any parents who may read this, we thank you for entrusting your children to us each night during VBS. It was a great joy to minister to them and we trust the things taught will reinforce the truth of God taught by you in your homes.
