Donate here to the Nepal Relief Fund

By now everyone is aware of the devastating destruction of the 7 plus magnitude earthquake in Nepal.

Here are some comments from Doug regarding Nepal:

"It happened about 11:50am to 12 noon during church services where many were at the time while some of their homes were destroyed.

Pastor Brian Lange and I and Pastor Karl Silva travelled to this Pastors village in Trisuly Nepal 7 years ago, the church grew from 12 people at that time to over 200 now and more.........but look at his home now that fell down, and the church building we helped him build has cracks but is standing........

Right now there are hundreds of people sleeping in the open ground outside our Kathmandu Greater Grace church, and there is no electricity, and no power to pump water. they may need to pay for special water delivery and food, and who knows what else. Many people are sleeping in the church and outside the church. This is a chance for the church to minister to the community. They can preach the gospel as they meet daily needs.

The common Nepali people are afraid to sleep in their homes and water, electricity and may be out for many days.

The church in Pokhara has a similar opportunity with Pastor Narj, who went to Bible college with me for 4 years in Baltimore and is now pastor of Greater Grace Pokhara."

Here are some comments from an American we met in Kathmandu in 2014:

We are seeing people open up that have never talked to us before. Even simple words of encouragement, hugs, or a pat on the shoulder have an amazing effect! One lady this evening looked ready to cry with joy and relief when I simply told her that she was doing a good job taking care of her children and keeping them safe in the makeshift tent that she had erected in the field after the top floor of her house had collapsed in the earthquake. These are the connections and relationships that take years to develop!

Because the aftershocks are just now starting to reside(we felt a strong, sustained aftershock just a few hours ago), there isn't a whole lot of clean-up or rebuilding work going on yet. As efforts get underway, we will have a better idea of exactly what is needed and where we can help. To start with, we are providing wheelbarrows, hand tools, and gloves for the clean-up efforts. We are carefully looking for the most effective ways to use contributions so that they will have the greatest impact. We will definitely keep you updated.

If you desire to give to support relief efforts we will have information regarding the location soon. For now, please pray that God would glorified and Jesus Christ would be lifted up.
