Sometimes Bible reading and study is like those connect-the-dot pictures we did as children. After reading 1 Samuel numerous times and preaching on 1 Samuel 17 numerous times in my life, today I saw a connection of dots that helped me frame the picture much better.

Everyone knows the account of David and Goliath but until today I had not put together, or, the Spirit had not taught me, the similarities between Dagon and Goliath. I have been so focused on David’s epic battle that 1 Samuel 7:14-15 had escaped my view in previous reading.

If you are not accustomed to attending church, this a great opportunity to check out a church service in a comfortable environment on a beautiful summer morning.

If you have ventured out to the modular buildings on the west side of the building, you will have noticed the brand-new steps and decking running along the length of the buildings. The labor for this new deck was generously donated by Jason McGuire, Tielor Scoles and Steve Fleshman during late March.

Kids from kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome and wanted! Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be K-5th grade and this year we are offering Vacation Bible Academy (VBA) for kids in grades 6-12. VBA will look a little different than those in VBS, but with the same principles. This gives all ages of our youth a chance to be part of what God is doing in our community!

Each evening starts at 6:30 p.m., and goes until 9 p.m.

A workshop style training event for children's ministry volunteers and prospective volunteers, taught by laborers in the field. This is a fun and engaging time to equip, educate, and encourage those who have a desire to better minister Gods word to children.

Youth Camp 2023 will take place July 31 to Aug. 4, at Miracle Hills Camp in Bethany, Mo.

We are joining with Maple City Baptist Church for camp again this year, and look forward to a profitable week in God's Word and great fun. Our speaker will be Mason Wilson from Harvest Baptist Church in Iola, Kan.

All students entering the 6th grade through this year's graduating Seniors can attend, and are encouraged to invite their friends! Cost is $200 per camper if registered by June 30, and $220 after that.
