The 2018 HBF Men’s Retreat was Aug. 18-19, at the Three Trails Camp in Independence. This year’s event featured challenges from the Word of God from men across generations. It was a great time of teaching from the Bible, fellowship and praise with other men of all ages. Friday night’s speakers included Riley Bonnesen, a student at Truman State from HBF, and Brad McGuire.

On Saturday, Jim Cunningham from Bethel Baptist Church in Warrensburg spoke, followed by Brian Orr of Lee’s Summit, who spoke about the importance of the relationship between fathers and sons. Brian started a ministry called Champion Warriors, which focused on strengthening father-son relationships through camping experiences and Bible-focused teaching.

Saturday afternoon, Jeremy Bonnesen – who organized and coordinated the event – spoke on the four principles of manhood based on comparing Adam to Jesus. A real man:

  • Rejects passivity
  • Accepts responsibility
  • Leads courageously
  • Expects the greater reward (God’s reward)

Randy Foster closed the event sharing about Iron Forge, the men’s ministry that Randy is leading at HBF. Iron Forge is focusing on studying the character qualities of a mand of God, and all men at HBF are encouraged to attend these monthly meetings.
