Big Commitments

I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.

These familiar words are recited during the inaugural ceremony of every man who holds the office of President of the Unites States of America. No matter what your political persuasion, the massive responsibility of the office of President of the United States is cause for sober reflection.

It is not the commitments we make that manifest our character but the commitments we keep. How many times have politicians broken commitments to their constituents? How many times have employer’s broken commitments to their employees or employees broken their commitments to their employers? How many times have husbands’ broken commitments to their wives or wives broken their commitments to their husbands? How many times have parents broken their commitments to their children or their children broken commitments to their parents? In reality is every human has flawed character.

There is only one man who can actually deliver on all his promises. That one man is, of course, The Lord Jesus Christ. His Word is Truth. He promises to love us despite our character cracks and our sinful hearts. Make a commitment to the one who is eternally committed to you. If you need a New Life this New Year turn from sin and call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
