And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
How many of us can say with certainty that our house will serve the LORD. Joshua had made up his mind, if you were going to live in his house, you were going to serve the Lord. Oh if it were that easy! The power of Joshua's statement was not only his words and his resolve but in the testimony of his life. I'm sure Joshua was far from being a perfect father but he combined consistency and time to earn credibility within his home. Joshua's family followed a man who didn't just tell them what to do, but showed them what to do and how to do it.
